Job Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its product engineering team. The role involves developing mechanical components and assemblies for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, working closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D component models and 2D engineering drawings for commercial vehicles.
• Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and 3D assemblies.
• Manage product data and engineering information using CAD/PLM systems.Ensure designs meet supplier, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in concept and design reviews.Liaise with overseas suppliers and customers on engineering designs.
• Develop cost-effective solutions for product improvements, service issues, and cost savings.
• Coordinate with Materials and Purchasing teams for new part design and sourcing.
• Collaborate with Analysis, Testing, Manufacturing, and other engineering teams.
• Support product development activities from design through production.

Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 3 years of post-graduate experience.
• Experience in 3D CAD; Siemens NX experience is preferred.
• Experience in automotive engineering/product development is preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel overseas for project requirements.South African Citizenship is required.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong problem-solving and task-management abilities.Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
• High attention to detail and a strong team-oriented approach.
