Senior Database Administrator – HCMC, Vietnam

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

• Database Administration: Administer, configure, monitor, and support SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and similar platforms. Handle installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup/recovery, and ongoing maintenance. Maintain database standards, operational procedures, and documentation.
• Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor database health, performance, storage, and availability. Perform performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting. Investigate and resolve incidents, failures, and operational issues. Support proactive monitoring and alerting processes.
• High Availability, Security & Compliance: Implement and support HA/DR solutions including replication, failover clustering, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and backup/recovery. Maintain database security controls, user access management, encryption, auditing, and vulnerability remediation. Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance.
• Cloud & Data Platform Support: Support cloud-based database services and integrations across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Assist with migrations and modernization initiatives. Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams on ETL/ELT pipelines, reporting, and data platforms. Support modern analytics environments such as Databricks, Snowflake, or data lakes.
• Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Partner with application teams to improve database design, scalability, and efficiency. Contribute to infrastructure modernization and automation initiatives. Document runbooks and share knowledge. Stay current on database technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years of database administration experience in enterprise production environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
• Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and HA solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, reporting systems, and data platforms.
• Exposure to modern analytics platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse) preferred.
• Knowledge of database security, auditing, and compliance practices.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
• Exposure to scripting/automation tools (PowerShell, Python, Shell).
• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
• Relevant certifications (Microsoft Azure DBA, AWS Database Specialty, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Databricks) are a plus.
